Now, this election season, the biggest thing people are talking about is Trump. People seem to extremely love him or extremely hate him. I don't know many people who are neutral. I have yet to really make up my mind about any candidates to be honest. I generally wait until after the primaries to really pay attention to candidates. However, I have to say, I really understand why people are finding him appealing. Despite the fact that I barely know anything he's said, I do know that he says crazy things and isn't afraid of offending people and I do agree with the sentiment behind a lot of his statements. America isn't great anymore. We've become extremely soft. We are so worried about offending anyone and not making everyone feel accepted and like every crazy thing people want to do is valid, that we are completely ridiculous. We value feelings over health and safety. Let's talk about everything that is totally ridiculous to me.
Minorities all claim they want to be treated equally. Their actions tell a different story. They don't want equal treatment, they want special treatment. An all white business is racist, but an all black business is perfectly fine. Women don't want to be equal to men, they want to totally emasculate them. Companies have quotas they have to fill of certain minorities. Do companies or clubs run by minorities have to include a certain amount of men or white people? Nope.
Illegal immigration. I truly don't understand why this is even a debate. They came here illegally. They have zero intention of becoming legal. The fact that we not only don't deport them, but actually provide them with benefits, is mind boggling. Our own citizens are drowning in college debt, but illegal immigrants get to go for FREE. I believe in allowing people to come here from anywhere, but they need to do it legally like our grandparents and great grandparents did. Why in the hell are people getting rewarded for breaking the law?
Let's talk about healthy bodies. I appreciate the whole "being comfortable in your own skin", and "don't shame anyone". Except, that a little bit of shame might actually be good for you! Telling your 11 year old to love their body when they have a 45" waist, should be considered child abuse. When I was a kid, we all played outside daily. Our parents cooked dinner for us and packed lunches. The majority of us was skinny. There was the occasional overweight child. But now? The majority of kids are TEN INCHES bigger than I am now and I now weigh about 70 pounds more than I did in high school. It's perfectly ok to not let your child be depressed over their weight, but letting them be inactive and eat crap, is unhealthy. Sure, they feel good about themselves, but they'll die of heart disease by 30.
On the same note of not shaming people anymore, how about how slutty people have gotten. Every 22 year old I've met in the last 5 years has had sex with over ten people already. But we aren't supposed to "slut shame" anymore. Why? How unsafe is it to fuck every person you meet? The fun is temporary but the herpes and HIV are forever, not to mention pregnancy, because apparently that's a choice.
This whole "war on women" movement is total bullshit. Because employers don't want to pay for your birth control, it's a war on women. I'm sorry, but there are countries where women get their clits cut out so they never get to enjoy sex. Or if a woman's ankles show, it's acceptable to get gang raped. THAT, is a war on women. Your boss not financially supporting your slut ways, isn't a war on women. You can be responsible and buy your own birth control all by yourself.
This whole gender neutrality thing stresses me out. Justin and I are planning to start having kids soon and reading all these articles where parents are scolded for buying a girl child a doll or a boy child a truck, is really bothering me. Apparently, the transgender movement has progressed so much that now it's called pressuring our child if you put your daughter in pink. This shouldn't be news but: GIRLS AND BOYS ARE DIFFERENT. I'm not saying boys can't cry and girls can't play sports. I fully believe in letting my kids do and be whatever they want. But if my daughter wants to wear dresses and play with dolls, that's perfectly fine.
Separation of church and state was meant to simply prevent the government from dictating what religion the citizens could be. This does NOT mean that everyone has to totally hide their holidays and religion. What I don't understand is, atheists think it's acceptable to celebrate religious holidays but get "offended" when they are reminded of the religious aspects of it. If Christians don't get offended with atheists celebrating holidays void of the true meaning, why should atheists get angry with ANYTHING?
Ok. I'm going to stop there. These are things that have been building up and since I'm too diplomatic to say any of these things on facebook or to my friends and family, I really had to get it out here. I don't know who I'll vote for yet, but I just hope America moves toward a more realistic place, rather than the dangerously polite place we're in now. I do apologize for offending anyone.
